What is PVD?

What is the PVD Process?
| The process transfers the strength and durability of Titanium to the surface of the normally softer material. |
| Pre-polished and pre-plated metal (in this case hard chrome plated brass) is placed in a chamber. |
| The chamber is evacuated and the vacuum is then charged with heated gases. |
| Titanium and or Zircon Oxide is coated onto the prepared surface by a process similar to a lightning strike with the assistance of the heated gases. |
Why PVD?
| The process transfers the strength and durability of Titanium to the surface of the normally softer material. |
| The process is effective in reducing oxidation. |
| The process is more environmentally friendly than electroplating. |

Maintaining the Titanium Finish
The Do’s
| To clean PVD all you need is a clean moist soft cloth! |
| A long lasting shine will be maintained if after each use you rinse off your tap set with clear water and wipe dry with a soft cloth.

| Regular wiping will prevent a build up of soap residue and grime. |
The Do NOT’s
| Never use abrasive pads, powder cleaners or liquid abrasive cleaners. These products will not remove the Titanium coating but will dull the surface below thus reducing the lustre.

| Do NOT use chemical or corrosive cleaners, methylated spirits or hydrocarbon solvents. These products in combination/or concentration may affect the Titanium coating and may remove the lubricants used to aid the sealing rings. |
